Gel filtration and desalting

Gel filtration is a simple and reliable chromatographic method for separating molecules according to size. Its versatility makes it generally applicable to the purification of all classes of biological substances, including macromolecules not readily fractionated by other techniques. Biological molecules vary greatly in size and gel filtration techniques need to be adapted accordingly. GE Helthcare provides a series of gel filtration media (including the pioneering gel filtration medium, Sephadex™) with different selectivities and fractionation capabilities, enabling rapid and precise separation of the majority of biological molecules. Media are available in convenient, ready-to-use prepacked columns, or as bulk media for packing your own columns.

The aim of GE Healthcare is to provide you with exceptionally high quality gel filtration media and appropriate columns, as well as all the benefits of our in-house expertise in helping you select the products required for your particular application. Information on gel filtration media can be found in the animation, selection guide, handbook, FAQ's, and education centre on these pages. If you cannot find the products you require on these pages, please contact us for a personal consultation with the experts in chromatography columns and media.
